Phutung Research Institute Alumni (PRIA)
Internship Fellowship
Program Overview
The PRIA Internship Fellowship is a bridge between academic learning and professional R&D excellence. Funded by the global network of PRI Alumni, this program aims to empower the next generation of Nepali innovators. We provide financial support and professional recognition to high-potential students, allowing them to focus entirely on solving complex technical challenges within the Phutung Research Institute.
Benefits and Support
- Monthly Stipend: A fixed stipend of NPR 30,000 distributed over a duration of three months (~72 working days).
- Mentorship: Direct supervision by PRI Project Leads and occasional "Office Hours" with alumni mentors working in global industries.
- Certification: Upon successful completion, interns receive a PRIA Fellowship Certificate, highlighting their contribution to PRI’s R&D portfolio.
- Networking: Exclusive access to the PRIA network for career guidance and future opportunities.
Eligibility and Selection
Selection is based on a dual-metric system to ensure both excellence and inclusivity:
- Financial Need: Priority is given to talented students who require financial assistance.
- Project Alignment: Interns should be selected by Project Leads to ensure a perfect match between the intern’s skills and the project’s requirements.
- Technical Merit: Evaluation of the candidate’s academic background (e.g., bachelors/masters or other R&D work), research interests and aptitude, coding/lab skills, and alignment with current R&D projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Commitment: Interns are expected to dedicate 40 hours per week (in-person only) to their assigned R&D project.
- Reporting: A brief monthly progress report must be submitted to the Fellowship Committee.
- Final Presentation: At the end of the three months, interns will present their findings or prototypes to the PRI community.
